Moosehead Rustic Art
Moosehead Rustic Art is a place where nature is transformed into beautiful and wondrous works of interesting art, unique signs, beautiful arbours, benches, fences and just about anything else you can imagine . Created by the natural artist Betsy Rockwell, all of these wonderful pieces of art will add a distinctive Maine flavor to any house or garden.
Betsy started to share her artworks with the world in 2003, when she opened her art studio, Beyond The Bend. Since Betsy takes branches from a number of trees and works them into unique shapes forming words for signs or sculptures of native Maine wildlife, the name seemed to fit perfectly! As Betsy became more enamored with the process of creating art out of branches and twigs she found in the wild surrounding Moosehead Lake, her husband, Rocky was joking with her about how this “twig stuff” was taking over her life. They started calling the process, twigonometry.
From that day on, Betsy proudly refers to herself as a twigonometrist. Wood is the primary medium Betsy uses to express herself artistically. Betsy is continuously collecting interestin native wood during the non-snowy seasons and loves to work outside when the weather is warm, creating unexpected and unpredictable pieces of natural art.
Betsy also combines her natural wood creations with local stones, cement and leaf impression to make many different types of garden adornments and sculptures.
Using what God has provided in nature; cedar, larch and alder trees native to the
Moosehead Lake Region, combined with an artist’s eye to create truly unique pieces.
As each project and piece is unique to itself, the prices are set accordingly

“Betsy Rockwell’s twig fence, gate and arbor were built to surround a small garden at one of my projects in Lincolnville. Her craft lent perfectly to the rustic intent of the overall landscape design. This Adirondack style of craftsmanship is ideal for a cottage garden and Betsy does a beautiful job with her creative interpretation of this antique art!”
